Raku Fired Ceramic Wolf Sculpture - Rust Finish
Our Price: $36.95

Truly a handcrafted one-of-a-kind raku-fired sculpture to remind you of the pack.  The raku-firing process is unique in itself:
After sculptures are formed, they air dry for one week.  Then the pieces are bisque fired, glazed and final fired.
During the raku-firing, small batches of pottery are low fired to between 1,850 F and 1,950 F degrees and removed
one at a time from the kiln, while still red-hot.  Each ceramic piece is then placed in a container of horses' oats and sawdust,
which burst into flames and interact with the glazes and unglazed areas of the pottery.  Each sculpture is 3" long and stands 2 3/4" high.  No two pieces are ever alike!

The rust colored finish is achieved by using brown stain and having the smoke interact with the unglazed clay, lending to a more natural look.  PLEASE NOTE:  Sculpture colorings will vary from picture!  Most will be darker with muted gray tones.

There are also two other glazes available, search Item #3021 (Copper or White Crackle glaze).

Due to the intense labor and amount of time put into each distinctive piece, it will be a treasure for years to come.  Limited quantities are made by the artist.

Raku Fired Ceramic Wolf Sculpture - Copper or White Crackle Glaze
Our Price: $36.95

Truly a handcrafted one-of-a-kind raku-fired sculpture to remind you of the pack.  The raku-firing process is unique in itself:
After sculptures are formed, they air dry for one week.  Then the pieces are bisque fired, glazed and final fired.
During the raku firing, small batches of pottery are low fired to between 1,850 F and 1,950 F degrees and removed
one at a time from the kiln, while still red-hot.  Each ceramic piece is then placed in a container of horses' oats and sawdust,
which burst into flames and interact with the glazes and unglazed areas of the pottery.  Reduction firing, in which glazes
are robbed of oxygen, results in copper flashing and a mix of wondrous colors and patterns, as you can see with the wolf shown on the left.  Each sculpture is 3" long and stands 2 3/4" high.  No two pieces are ever alike!  Please make your color choice:  Copper Glaze (shown on left) or White Crackle Glaze (on right).

The copper color is a multi-colored glaze that ranges from deep navy blue to copper with flashes of other colors.  Unpredictable. You never know what you're going to get.
The white crackle glaze is created by the smoke interaction, which causes the cracks to appear darker.  White crackle sold out.

There is also a third finish available, search Item #3020 (Rusty Finish).

Due to the intense labor and amount of time put into each distinctive piece, it will be a treasure for years to come.  Limited quantities are made by the artist.

Another addition to our new line of raku-fired wolf sculptures.  What might be hovering nearby high up in the white pines trailing the wolf pack?  Ravens!  Here is a great interpretation of the infamous raven.  The artist was inspired by Inuit carvings, Southwest Native fetishes, and the ravens that surround her studio.  She created the design in honor of Kenojuak Ashevak, one of the great Inuit artists of our time.  Truly a handcrafted one-of-a-kind raku-fired sculpture to remind you of the workings of our complex ecosystem.  The raku-firing process is unique in itself:
